Leaving Dresden2:28 p.m. – the train was 10 minutes late. “Kicked” Mina out of the train in Riesa, like 2007. Arrived Leipzig around 4:10 p.m.
Went by tram to Connewitzer Kreutz (Werk II) to get my wristband, didn’t take too much time. There I met the first friends, Elch and Petra.
Went straight to Bassi, my traditional WGt-home. We had some Prosecco and small talk on his balcony, Sophie and Uwe came along, too. Left the house at 6:30 p.m. as I liked to reach Agra at 7.
Met Mirko, angelica and Freddy at the train stop. Had some Met with them and went together to Agra. Right in front of the entry I also met Tobias, Sabrina, Marco and his girl-friend.
Right at the entry of the concert hall I met also the 3 boys from Lübeck, which I knew from WGT 2007 and it was quite funny to meet them again.
First band playing was Das Ich – well, I didn’t like ti too much. We had some more Met and met some friends and enjoyed the concert of Sigue Sigue Sputnik – some of my 80ies heroes – a lot. I’ve got a picture!!!
I don’t remember the concerts of Unheilig and Blutengel that much as I had too much alcohol by then… But I remember having lots of fun, especially when we went to toilette – I usually went to men’s room with Mirko (why should I wait at Ladies one for an hour as it took 20 minutes only at Men’s…) and in the waiting line we talked to many interesting people as from Russia, Belgium, Sweden, …
For the midnight special band Paradise Lost I felt a lot better, thanks to Mirko who helped me with lots of water an orange juice!!!
Around 2:30 a.m. we were pushed out of the concert hall and walked back to Connewitz, and on the way I just decided to stay overnight at Mirko’s house.
Saturday
Depending to the fact that I didn’t stay at “my” home I couldn’t go for the walk to South Graveyard, just went back to Bassi in the afternoon.
After having a shower and preparing myself for another festival day Uwe invited me for some pasta dinner and I went to the Agra later, where I reached around 6 p.m.
Watched Reaper with Claudi and René, it was good but a bit too loud.
Spectra Paris was okay but nothing special.
As I was sitting there just by myself for awhile, a pretty strange guy started talking to me, smoking pot and really crazy. He asked again and again if he could touch my face and told me I was the prettiest girl all around and he swore not to be kidding – but he felt that he was behaving pretty strange. He got angry about me when I didn’t want to take his money into my bag – hey, I’m not taking 50 Euro from a guy I don’t know at all!
Next band playing was SA 42, was not bad but the show and design a bit strange…
Actually I went there to see Hocico but as the concert hall was pretty crowded by then, I could not really enjoy it and for Covenant we left.
Mirko and Ricarda met Tobi before and now we met him again, he had too much alcohol and with help of fresh air and lots of water and some hugs we made him feel better again, also some dancing helped.
At the disco we mat Uwe and Marco and at midnight we had to celebrate Mirko’s birthday.
After sitting and talking outside for a while I went back home around 1 a.m.
Sunday
… I woke up at 9! Why so early???
My plan was to go to Werk II in the late afternoon… Well, so I had breakfast with Bassi and he showed some pictures from their Egypt trip – pretty nice, I like to go back there, too, when I’ll be grown up!
Around 2 p.m. I went to Agra again, just to meet some friends, sitting outside, drinking some interesting kind of wine and watching people.
Went with Gerald to Werk II at 4.30 p.m., reached there just in time for the first band of the night, Greyhound. The music was not bad although it was no 5-in-the-afternoon but some 4-in-the-morning music, but it was so hot in the hall that I went back outside, sitting with Heizfrosch and some more friends from Dresden, they did some Origami and we had much fun.
Went inside again for Bahntier, which I liked a lot and found out that I own some of their music. The video performance was pretty hard!!!
Next Northborne played, not bad and also well known, but I was waiting for XOTOX and the concert was great!
Unfortunately I got pretty hungry during this concert and right when it finished I went to get some food, so I missed Esplendor Geometrico. I was told they were pretty good – well, I’ll see them next time…
Went back to Agra and visited my neighbour Janet who was working on a market booth there, later Tobias was calling and I went with him, Marco and the girls to the Middle Ages Market. There - lucky me -I got some food for free and went back to the Agra concert hall at 1 a.m. to see Fields of the Nephilim. It was pretty good – just to see Carl McCoy once in a lifetime!!!
But it was a bit late for this kind of slow music and many people around me were falling asleep, so I decided – before joining them – to leave around 2:30 a.m.
Monday
Waking up at 9:30 a.m. actually I was going to go to the movies and some book reading but as nobody liked to go with me, I cancelled this plan and went with Mirko and Angelika to Kohlrabizirkus in the afternoon. I liked this location a lot.
The music was mixed up and not always fitting together… The opener, Deviant UK, was mainly covering well known songs. Gothika from Japan was pretty cool and interesting, wearing pretty cool clothes.
Militant Cheerleaders on the Move surprised with being 2 men. Miss Construction was not was I expected, either.
Spetznatz was really pretty good!
Nachtmahr – nothing to talk about – and Absolute Body Control I remembered to be pretty cool the year before, but this time I didn’t like it that much, it was so slow and we were just counting the minutes to see Die Krupps.
They were really good, I just went straight in front of the stage for their concert and was there dancing for the main part of their show, but, as I’m not that young anymore, left this place after more that half of the concert and had to get lots of water.
Left around 1 a.m. and following the black crowd I really found my way back home, although I was alone and never been there before.
Tuesday
Bassi woke me at 5:30 in the morning to say Good Bye – he had to go to work – and I got up at 9.30 and went to Sophia and Uwe for breakfast. As we didn’t go out together this time, now we just found some time to talk together.
Uwe took me to train station, were I used the waiting time for shopping and my train left 2 minutes before 2 p.m.
In Riesa my kids joined me – so, well, now I was back to my daily routine.
The weekend was some kind of pretty good therapy to me and made me feel a lot more alive again, thanks to everybody who was around me and made this weekend as special as it was.
Hope to se all of you at WGT 2009 again and I hope to be by better health condition then…
