My WGT 2007 – May 25th till 27th
Since Rock am Ring one year ago I was more or less counting the days – waiting for the 2007 Wave & Gothic Meeting in Leipzig. I decided to go there one year ago already.
Friday, May 25th, we went to the station at 10:30 a.m. – Lars train to Hamburg would leave a few minutes past 11 and ours around 11:30. Lucky me that trains were leaving from the same platform as Lars’ one was late and so we had just a few minutes to catch ours.
I “kicked” Mina out of train in Riesa where Grand-Dad picked her up.
Now my black weekend could start!!!
As it was too hot to wear my boots I just laced them unto my backpack – and everybody was watching me, crazy black freak :-)
When I reached Leipzig I decided better to wear them…
Thanx to Sophia’s very good instructions it was no problem to find my way from Leipzig main station to Conewitz and I reached Bassi’s home a few minutes past 1.
He just arrived home back from South America, but he was pretty happy to see me.
Well, as Sophie and I were going to meet in the afternoon after she’d have finished work to get our wrist bands, I just changed clothes and was sitting in the sun at the balcony. Just waiting and waiting, who didn’t turn up was Sophia. I was getting nervous because I wanted to see the first band, In Strict Confidence, at 6:45 p.m.
Finally she reached home around 5, I just stepped in for a few words, she was going to colour her hair and waiting for some more friends.
So I just walked by to get my wrist band –lucky me, it took only one hour to get it … :-)
Finally I would have to wait even longer to enter the location Werk II when a security guide told me that the location was closed, it was crowded already… :-(
As I didn’t want to waste all my time waiting I decided to go back to Sophia’s house and try it later again.
So I missed the first act, followed by Fetisch:Mensch not much later…
On the way back I got lost but remembered the area from last visit and found my way home. I took some Chinese food to go (spring rolls, really good!!!).
When I reached Sohpie’s house I decided to put the food package into trash bin and got locked into the backyard – yeah!!! It seemed to be quite funny for Sophia…
Finally Uwe and Andreas had reached her and we were still waiting for Oli, so we just had some beer.
When a heavy thunderstorm started we were happy to be still at home. But we all liked to see the Monumentum II event at Völkerschlachtdenkmal, so we left the house around 9 – the others had to get wristbands first, we went to Werk II after – so I just saw the last songs by Absolute Body Control, they were as good as I had expected.
Later we walked to Vöklkerschlachtdenkmal, on the way we met friends of Sophia and Uwe. I had a nice talk to Dana on the way, I enjoyed it a lot.
Unfortunately the rain started again and kept the entire event, it just stopped a few minutes before it was finished :-(
But the lightshow and music were really good and impressing!!!
Now the boys decided to go to a pub close to home; Sophia, Steffi and I went to the Villa for dancing. Unfortunately there were only few people and the music not that good, on the main floor it was not too bad but a bit over modulated.
So I talked a while to Sophie and a friend of her, I started dancing in the early morning where I was shocked by an unknown woman around 4 a.m. – she just hold my arms, stopped me dancing and asked if I’d like to drink some beer with her. I was really upset!!! Didn’t drink beer with her at all, at least as Sophia wanted to go back home, she had been drinking enough and we had to take a taxi…
I reached Bassi’s house at 4.30 and got a problem with opening the door… The light was broken, too, so it took a while until I noticed that this door was to be opened exactly the opposite direction than usually… finally I managed to open it :-)
Was sleeping till 11.30 and had liked to go swimming when I woke up, but Bassi was still sleeping and at Sophie’s nobody answered the phone. When everybody was awake it was afternoon already and I was just going to leave fro the Agra when Sophie called to ask me if I’d like to come by car. So we went there together.
After some shopping I met Gerald and Sina, we had some Met together, yummy!!!
The first concert for this day was Absurd Minds, actually I didn’t want to see them as I didn’t like their concert one year ago at Reithalle very much, but this time I liked it a lot. During the concert I met 3 nice guys from Lübeck, I just asked them for one of their beer – that’s the way to make new friends :-)))
Unfortunately I didn’t meet them later again :-(
For Orange Sector I met Gerald, Sina and their friends again. The band was really good. Followed by Rotersand, Psyclon Nine and Front 242, all were pretty good!!!
But it was too hot in the location – not that this would have stopped me jumping around :-)
Just before Front 242 was finished, I left for the Moritzbastei to join the Resurrection Ballroom party – as I promised my favourite DJ-team to be there – and if I promise something, I keep it!!!
When I left the Agra there was just a tram #11 arriving, I took it and could go straight to the MB, also managed to find the way to MB from tram station.
I reached it just in time, at midnight, but - the concert at Tonne was not finished jet so I had to wait for half an hour... :-(
Well, I just had some Coke while waiting; finally they let me go in…
Just said Hello to the DJ’s, I was looking forward to the things coming. In the beginning I was a bit wondering about the music but after few songs I was convinced!!! Unfortunately the location was soon crowded and the temperatures as hot as everywhere :-(
The bad thing was, my feet started aching and around 4 in the morning I hardly could move them, so I had to leave for Bassi’s home – to my regret there was just the CD “Kinder der Madchinenrepublik” waiting – but I just had to go…
Well, the day should not be finished jet :-)
Tram was coming soon, I went back home, trying to be very quiet, as Bassi had to go to work at half past 5… So I tiptoed to the bathroom and sofa and when I just had laid down – I could hear someone opening the front door, knocking on my door – Bassi just coming back home from a party!!! He asked me to have some beer together – at half past 4 in the morning!!!
Well, he just didn’t want to go to bed for one hour only, so we had breakfast together – and some beer :-) Later he went to work and I went to bed.
He told me to come back at 2 p.m. so I managed to get up in time to take a shower etc. and prepare some pasta for us – when he came back home, we had lunch together, he liked it a lot!
As Sophie was not at home, I just went to Agra by myself, sitting down in the concert hall. Saw Felsenreich as first act of the day, well, not good - not bad.
Later Mirko and Angelika bumped into me. We watched the Dope Stars Inc. concert together, I liked it a lot. Reflex ion was not that good so we went for a walk outside, later they went shopping and I was going to meet Sina for the Terminal Choise concert.
Just met Eiskalter Engel outside and we were talking a while.
The Terminal Choise concert was a surprise for me, I heard lots of bad rumours about them so I was really surprised about their sound, real good rock music, and I liked it a lot!
We didn’t like The Superheroines that much but ASP was cool, and – Surprise! Surprise! –they played some songs I knew :-)))
Well, I didn’t like The 69 Eyes so I decided to go back home instead of waiting 2 more hours for The Crüxshadows, who should be my last highlight – but as the first highlight, I missed them…
Well, when I came back to Bassi’s home he and Jens were watching The Matrix and I joined them, it was a nice finish for this weekend :-) Not too bad, at least.
Monday morning after having breakfast Bassi showed some of the latest holiday pictures from South America to me, I left him around 2 p.m. and met Annegret around 3 at the Leipzig main station.
In Riesa just Mina jumped on the train… and that’s it!
Who will join me for the WGT 2008???
